Lions 4-1 after Homecoming Victory

The crowd at Friday night’s Homecoming game for the Dublin Lions were treated to a fight as the home battled its way to a 38-24 victory against the San Saba Armadillos.

“San Saba is sitting there at 0-5 but they’re going to be a playoff team,” Lions Hed Coach and Athletic Director Greg Hardcastle. “They’re young but they’re not bad. They gave us a good test going into district.”

The winning score was aided in part by Cooper Hubble who returned from the injured bench and claimed two touchdowns amidst 121 yards of receiving. Christian Ramirez claimed the the most yardage in receiving with 144, adding two touchdowns. He also went 3 for 3 in PAT kicks and successfully completed a field goal. Tyler Harrell also racked up an impressive 119 yards in receiving for the Lions.

Mosiah Lolohea also added a touchown in 88 yards of ruching and Kevin Patton claimed a 2-point conversion. Cameron Patton and Javier Parra led the defensive game with 8 tackles each while Noah Thompson got 6 and Jacob Lopez got 5.

The Lions are in a byeweek this week but Hardcastle reported the team won’t be resting on past success.

“We’re going to use the bye-week to work on ares that need improvement and prepare for district,” he said.

Lions will return on Oct. 8 with their first district game at Comanche, facing the Indians at 7 p.m.
