Dublin hosts Area today

Dublin slated to host 14 schools and compete in the District 7 and 8 3A Area Meet today at Bob and Norma Cervetto Field starting at 10 a.m.

The event will include the schools who competed in the March 31/April 1 District 8 meet (Dublin, Bangs, Brock, Comanche, Early, Eastland, Millsap and Peaster) as well as the schools in District 7 (Bowie, Breckenridge, Henrietta, Holliday, Jacksboro, Nacona and Wichita Fall City View).

Dublin is advancing 11 of its athletes to the competition following stellar performances at District:

■ Emiliano Hernandez, who placed second in the boys’ 800 Meters

■ Jilt DeBoer, who placed first in the boys’ 3200M and second in the 1600M

■ Daniel Escobar, who placed first in the boys’ 1600M

■ Giovanni Rodriguez, who placed fourth in the boys’ 3200M

■ Tyler Harrell, who placed first in the boys’ triple jump and third in the long jump

■ Javion Ray, who placed third in the boys’ triple jump and fourth in the boys’ long jump

■The girls’ 4x200 Relay Team (Hannah Binkley, Maddie Loper, Lyla Anderson and Kylie Olvera), who placed second

■Kylie Olvera, who placed second in the girls’ triple jump

■Bryten Ballenger, who placed third in the girls’ 100M

■ Sarah Resendiz, who placed third in the girls’ 1600M

This is the first time Dublin has been able to host the Area event since the alignment went East. Jacksboro is slated to host Area next year.
