The Dublin Lions bowed to Merkel 36-15 in the Friday night match-up on the Dublin field but Head Football Coach Bob Cervetto said the Dublin boys are still in the game.

Cervetto said the Lions faced some adversity as they fielded several younger players to fill their ranks.

“At one point, we had two freshmen and three sophomores on the field,” he said.

The coach is proud of the fight that all of his players showed though and says that the experience for his younger players will help the team in the future.

“It’s a long shot but we can still get there,” Cervetto. “The first thing we’ve got to do is win Friday night.”

They will be returning to the Bob and Norma Cervetto Field Friday, where they will face Millsap at 7 p.m.
