The Dublin Lions took sixth as a team in the District 8-3A golf tournament at Squaw Valley in Glen Rose.
Hayden Milburn, led the Lion swingers, placing 12th and shooting 90 after round 2 on Tuesday, March 30. (Milburn was tied at 9th in round 1 March 29 with 87 strokes.) Milburn was only 7 strokes from qualifying for regional competition.
Olivia Salyer improved from 117 strokes in round 1 to 112 in round 2 and placed 20th.
Head golf coach Wes Grisham commended her on the performance for her first year of competition. “ I wish I had more time with her but unfortunately she graduates this year,” he said. “She still has a lot of potential.”
“I’m really proud of our Dublin golfers for always applying their best and competing the Lion Way,”said Grisham. “Hopefully they continue to play all spring and summer so we can pick up right where we left off.”
Joe Salinas also shot a 90 in round 2 and placed 36th after his round 1 score of 110.
