Lions lift silver at home

The Dublin Lion powerlifters claimed second as they hosted the reschedule Dublin Invitational meet Saturday, Feb. 21.

This team finish was bolstered in part by first place finishes by Cayson Loving, Juan Elicerio and Michael Jimenez in the 165, 275 and 308 divisions respectively.

Loving lifted a total of 1,110 pounds (415 squat, 235 bench press, 460 dead lift). Elicerio lifted 1,320 pounds (500 squat, 320 bench, 500 DL). Jimenez lifted 1,025 pounds (385 squat, 290 bench, 350 DL).

Other Dublin lifters who placed and added to the team ranking were: Juan Alvarez, 2nd in the 275, with a total 1,300 (490 squat, 330 bench, 480 DL) Luis Elicerio, 2nd in SHW with 1, 265 (480 squat, 340 bench, 445 DL) Tony Ortiz, 3rd in the 242 with 1,085 (430 squat, 290 bench, 365 DL) Jayden Balvantin, 3rd in the 275 with 1,285 (480 squat, 320 bench, 485 DL) Oscar Vazquez, 5th in the 220 with 905 (340 squat, 200 bench, 370 DL) The Lady Lions placed 5th at the meet with several earning high placements including: Chloe Sullivan, 1st in the 242 with 560 (205 squat, 135 bench, 220 DL) Samantha Martinez, 2nd in the 97 with 460 (175 squat, 90 bench, 195 DL) Rosa Filio, 3rd in the 114 with 370 (140 squat, 70 bench, 160 DL) Hailie Whitworth, 3rd in the 181 with 450 (170 squat, 105 bench, 160 DL) Nomi Thompson, 5th in the 132 with 635 (260 squat, 125 bench, 250 DL) Lady Lion lifters will return home for the girls 3A Regional meet Saturday, Feb. 28 starting at 8:30 a.m. Dubin girls who qualified for competition included: Cassidy Adair, Jessa Bamber, Annabelle Delgado, Rosa Filio (Alertnate), Bayli Jackson, Samantha Martinez, Candy Rodriguez, Chloe Sullivan, Nomi Thompson and Hailie Whitworth.
