Dublin Lions are asked to pack the gym Friday, Feb. 13 as the Lions battle to step up from 3rd to tie for 2nd in district. All Lions fans are asked to wear white for the ‘Whiteout’ game. Varsity is expected to play at 6:30 p.m. following freshman and JV at 4 p.m. and 5:15 p.m. respectively.
The Lions were on a hot streak starting this week, having treated fans to a 98-33 beatdown on the Eastland Mavericks for Senior Night Friday, Feb. 6.
“We had a great atmosphere being senior night and the crowd was electric,” said head boys basketball coach Wes Grisham. “Eastland didn’t stand a chance. I was proud to have that many in attendance and our guys performed at the highest level.”
Alex Teten led the Lion offense with 30 points, 5 rebounds, 1 assist and 6 steals.
Hunter Jones scored 15 points, 10 rebounds, 3 assists and a steal.
Joe Salinas snagged 13 points, 5 rebounds, 4 assists and 4 steals.
Kyson Gilman scored 8 points, 7 rebounds and 2 assists.
Jorge Solis scored 7 points, 3 rebounds, 1 assist and a steal.
Aiden Jeffery had 7 pts, 2 rebounds, 2 assists and 2 steals.
Jayden DeLeon put up 4 points, 9 rebounds, 7 assists, 5 steals and a block. Omar Vazquez had 4 points, 3 rebounds, 2 steals and a block.
Hunter Lewis scored 3 points and 2 rebounds; Hazin Chacon added 3 points and 2 rebounds. Ivan Phelps scored 2 points, 1 rebound and 2 steals. Julian Caldera got 2 points, 1 rebound and a steal.
This followed a 65-61 away win against Breckenridge Feb. 3.
“I’m really proud of our guys’ performance especially against a strong and physical team on top of being on the road,” said Grisham. “It was an intense game all the way through to the end. This was a game we needed everyone to step up and they put us in playoffs.”
Teten led Dublin scoring again with 21 points, 9 rebounds and 7 assists. Jones followed with 17 points, 8 rebounds and a block.
Vazquez scored 8 pts and a rebound. Salinas snagged 7 points, 6 rebounds and a block.
DeLeon added 6 points, 4 rebounds, 6 assists, 5 steals and 6 blocks. Solis scored 2 points, 6 rebounds and a block while Jeffery had 2 points, 1 rebound and a steal.
Gilman put in 1 point, 2 rebounds and 2 steals while Phelps had 1 point, 2 rebounds, 3 assists and 2 steals.
