The Lingleville Lady Cardinals were looking for a win as they entered the month of December by head girls’ basketball coach Brandon Haught is seeing improvement on the court that the team hopes to turn into gains.
“Varsity girls are off to a tough start but are improving every day,” said Haught. “We had some close battles with Zephyr (24-40), Poolville (24-37), Brookesmith (18-36) and Garner (25-36). We are learning quickly but we have a long climb still to go.”
Some specific highlights include: Denise Toledo notching her first career double-double with 16 points and 14 rebounds against Poolville and Nevaeh Jacinto (‘a strong Newcomer of the Year candidate’ according to Haught) is averaging about 8 points per game.
“This team is fun to see grow,” said the coach. “We only had 4 points per game returning this year as our two leading scorers graduated last year. The new crew of Lady Cardinals are coming in hot!”
The Lady Cards are traveling down to College Station this weekend for the North Zulch tournament.
As of the end of November, Varsity Girls were 0-6, JV Girls were 0-1, JH A Girls were 5-1 and JH B Girls were 1-1.
