The Dublin Lady Lions went 2-3 at the Eastland Tournament Thursday Aug. 21 and Saturday, Aug. 23.
This followed a hard fought loss to the Stephenville Faith Knights at home Tuesday, Aug. 19 as they pushed the opponent to five sets. Friday, Aug. 22, the Lady Lions hosted Hico in a rematch from their opening scrimmage. The Dublin girls put in the fight but fell to the visitors.
“The girls played with heart this week,” said head Dublin volleyball coach Hannah Smith. “We pushed Faith knights to five sets, hustled, and never gave up. Even in the loss to Hico, they kept fighting and didn’t ease up.”
Smith called out Haden Keilers for solid defense against Stephenville Faith and Olivia Salyer for getting into a solid groove. She also praised Adriana Stewart for the fight she put in during tourney play and ‘leaving it all on the court.’
JV green was back on the court for the first time in two weeks Friday against Hico.
“It was a struggle, but I enjoyed how they kept battling,” said Smith.
The JV Gold went 1-1 at the Eastland tournament.
“[The tournament] was just what we needed to find our rhythm, and I’m proud of how the girls rose to each challenge,” Smith said of both teams. “We’re improving every day and building a solid foundation for district.”
