The Lingleville Lady Cardinals claimed silver at the Meridian tournament as they went 5-2 in their opening week of play.
“These kids really have something to prove this year,” said head Lingleville volleyball coach Brandon Haught. “Many people were doubting that we could replicate the success we had last year, but here we are off to one of the best starts in recent years.” This tourney finish came after 2-0 wins over Meridian, Evant and Bishop Reicher Thursday Aug. 14 and another 2-1 win over BR Saturday, Aug. 16 before facing a 2-0 loss to Rio Vista.
The Lady Cards also got a 3-0 victory over Dublin Aug. 15 and a 3-0 loss to Garner Aug. 12.
Haught is optimistic about the upcoming season, especially after a bright opening week.
“We have no seniors on the team so our possibilities are endless for the next two years,” said the coach. “My advice to the community out there, get behind this team because it’s better to be on this train than off of it!”
