As Dublin boys get ready for the start of workouts Aug. 4, DHS cross country coach Wes Grisham was excited to share the participation he saw this past Sunday.
“I’m really proud of the kids that showed up for open gym Sunday,” he said. “When you think of the guys that graduated and the next guys moving up and they all show up to compete, it’s fun to watch. I know the previous seniors showed up to get a taste of fun again but at the same time they pushed the younger generation to keep the legacy going.”
“I couldn’t be prouder of our Dublin athletes,” he said “It literally puts in perspective of ‘iron sharpens iron as man sharpens man.’” “They’re passing the torch and making sure the flame doesn’t go out!,” he added.
DHS cross country runners will meet at the tree in front of Dublin Secondary Monday, Aug. 4 at 6:30 a.m.
Their schedule is as follows: 6:30 a.m.- stretch/warm up 6:45 a.m.- 1.5 mile run 7:10 a.m.- Weight room lift (full body) 7:45 a.m.- ab workout 8 a.m.- break out/Done!
Dublin Lions will start football practice Monday, Aug. 4 at 6 a.m. on Cervetto Field.
Coaching staff reported that players should report from 5:15 - 5:30 a.m. to be fitted for helmets and workout clothes.
Morning practice will be from 6 to about 9:30 a.m. in the mornings Aug. 4 – 11 as teacher in-service will be held on those days. The first day of school is Aug. 12. Students will begin after school practice at this time.
All students must turn in a Medical History Form prior to workouts. Incoming 7th, 9th & 11th graders must get a physical this year.
