Fishing Report

Body

BROWNWOOD

GOOD. Water slightly stained; 85 degrees; 0.26 feet above pool. Black bass to 3 pounds are slow in 3-15 feet of water on wacky rig senkos on the dock poles and topwater frogs in the shoreline grass. We are in the dog days of summer. Fishing is tough all over the lake. Early and late will be your best bet on catching any fish. Crappie are slow to 11 inches on minnows and jigs in 10-18 feet on deeper large docks with brush on the main lake and on scattered brush piles. White bass are slow to 1.50 pounds on crappie jigs and crankbaits out of the lights at night. Catfish are slow on cut shad on the main lake flats.

GRANBURY

GOOD. Water stained; 83 degrees; 0.03 feet below pool. Granbury water level is normal and temperatures on the main lake are in the middle 80’s and even higher in the sloughs. The lake is still settling out in some areas, but the surface clarity is relatively normal. Sandbass angling continues to be good on trolled baits and slabs worked near feeding flats on many areas of the lake. Striped bass are hit and miss with some good fish to 10lbs possible. Best baits are trolled jigs/ swimbaits or live shad fished on the lower ends. Numerous small striped bass and some largemouth bass are schooling with sandbass. Nighttime blue cat fishing is reported as good on cut shad fished midlake to the upper ends. Largemouth bass are fair to good on soft plastics, spinners and crankbaits. Some good topwater is reported early and lake POSSUM KINGDOM FAIR. The water temp is steady at 85-87 F; 0.16 feet above pool. Stripers are slow with the best bite on live bait in 20-40 feet of water. Fish are moving fast, so you will have to slowly move around and just pick them off one at a time till you find a good school. Then try to stay on top of the school, which can be extremely tough as they are moving fast. Sand bass are still fair to good in 510 feet of water on main lake points and sand flats. Chrome and white seem to be out producing all other colors. Catfish are fair to good. Cut shad is producing fish in 10-20 feet of water fished on the bottom. Baited holes are your best bet to catch numbers, but not size. Bait with cattle cubes and wait 2-3 hours before fishing. Use punch bait for best results on baited holes. Catfish should be spawning, so it’ll be a little slow for about the next month. Water clarity is 2-6 feet of visibility but slightly stained on the south end.

PROCTOR

FAIR. Water stained; 86 degrees; 0.77 feet above the pool. Catfish are good on juglines. Reports of white bass caught trolling in shallow water. Crappie are transitioning to brush piles.
