The Dublin Lions took on the Bluff Dale Bobcats and went 2-1 in the DeLeon Tournament last week with wins over Santo and Gorman.
The week started with a 19-1 away victory over Bluff Dale. The Lions had taken an early lead at 7-1 at the top of the 7th after Joe Salinas drew a walk, Caden Vanbebber singled, Hudsen Joslin doubled and Alonso Moreno snagged a single.
The Lions scored 26 hits through the game with Bullard, Moreno and Kyler Gaitan each adding 4 hits in at-bats. Also scoring hits were DJ Ferguson, Alex Teten, Aaron Rodriguez, Ivan Phelps and Hudsen Joslin. Lions also stole 19 bases and didn’t commit a single error on the field.
In tournament play, the Lions squashed the Santo Wildcats 11-4 thanks in part to hit leaders Joe Salinas and Ivan Phelps, who each had 3. The Lions amassed 11 hits and 13 stolen bases.
The Lions also went 12-2 over the Gorman Panthers led by Phelps and Kyler Gaitan with three hits each. Phelps, Bullard and Joslin each drove in two runs while Paxton Loper scored two hits in two at-bats. The Lions stole 20 bases and had no errors in the field.
