Lingleville Lady Cardinal spirit was flying high after a pair of wins last week over Iredell and Bluff Dale.

On Jan. 7, The Lingleville girls went 49 against Iredell’s 37 with Kenleigh Jones scoring 23 points and Ciklali Rangel snagging 20. The Lady Cards returned home Jan. 11 where they bested Bluff Dale 42-27. Rangel led the team with 16 followed by Jones with 12 and Jazmin Martinez with 5.

“[It was a] great week for the Lady Cardinals on the court,” exclaimed head girls Lingleville basketball coach Brandon Haught. “We took care of business to end the first round robin, and we have solidified ourselves in the top 4 for district as we now have a 2 game lead on 5th place. We did a great job on the glass this week, limiting teams to 1 shot per possession.”

“Rebounding is the ugly or dirty part of the game and not many kids want to do it these days,” he continued. “Our kids are starting to see the importance of other statistics besides points and its paying off with a few wins here in district.”

Haught also reported the team shot well last week with Jones shooting lights out and sinking five 3-pointers in two games.

“We have tough games coming up against Huckabay and Gorman but if we keep up our play we can play them tough,” Haught asserted.
