The Lingleville Cardinals faced a hard fought week but added two more to the win column in clashes with Iredell and Bluff Dale.

“The first game against Iredellwasanoffensivebattle,” said head Lingleville boys basketball coach Garrett Stewart of the Jan. 7 matchup. “We didn’t have an answer to their size but did a great job answering offensively, led by Issac Martinez with 37, Jorge Toledo with 23, and Jaxson Rives with 12.” This scoring helped the Cards rush to a 80-59 victory.

Stewart called the Jan. 11 game against Bluff Dale a ‘dog fight. “We were a little short handed but found a way to come out with the win,” he continued. Scoring was led by Jorge Toledo with 17, Jaxson Rives with 13, Garrett Hurt with 9, and Cutter Sanders with 8. This scoring aided in a 53-47 Lingleville win.

The Cards were at the top of their district with 5-0 heading into this week.
