Lady Lions 2-2 in tourney

The Dublin Lady Lions went 2-2 in the home tournament held Dec. 5- 7.

The varsity girls started in strong form on Thursday, Dec. 5, besting Goldthwaite JV 47-23. Olivia Salyer and Emma Vargas led scoring in the game with 12 each, followed closely by NavaLee White with 10.

Adriana Rosalez had 4, and Wendy Calderon, Haden Keilers and Adriana Stewart had 3 each.

Dublin faced Brownwood JV next and lost 55-38. We had two injuries and a rough 3rd quarter, only scoring 1 point.

Stewart led Dublin’s scoring with 11. Salyer had 9, Vargas had 6, Keilers with 5, Rosalez had 4 and Ingrid Hernandez with 3.

On Saturday, Dec. 7, the Lady Lions played Stephenville Faith Knights and had a great game, winning 54-42. Energy and defense was great and we got hot in the 4th. Stewart led scoring again with 17. Salyer had 16, Derby Kukla had 7, Vargas had 6, Keilers had 5 and Rosalez had 3.

Dublin ended up playing DeLeon for 3rd and lost by 4 points (46-42). Salyer had 15, Rosalez with 7, Kukla with 6, Stewart with 5, Vargas with 4, Layla Salas with 3, and Keilers with 2.

The tournament appearance followed a 69-50 away loss to Gordon Tuesday, Dec. 3. Salyer led scoring with 21. White had 11, Stewart with 5, Hernandez with 3 and Kukla, Rosalez, Vargas and Keilers each had 2.
