The Dublin Jr. High Lions showed great fight in games against Eastland and Clifton in recent weeks.
“Seventh graders had an unbelievable game last night against Eastland,” said coach Hayden Hoerdeman of the Oct. 24 battle. “The final score was 28-26 and we recovered an onside kick to have possessions within the final few minutes but we couldn’t get into the end zone.”
Hoerdeman said the Dublin boys came back from a 14-12 deficit at the half and that it was the best game they had played offensively.
The 8th graders lost 44-20, starting out hot with a stop and 90 yard touchdown, but falling behind 22-12 by the half. “We had some opportunities we just couldn’t get over the hump in this one.”
These home games were followed with losses at Clifton Oct. 31.
The 8th Grade Lions fell 28-8 after a strong first half that ended 8-6 in the Lions’ favor.
“Clifton scored on the opening kickoff of the 2nd half and we let that get to us,” said Hoerdeman.
The 7th grade boys fell 58-28.
The junior high teams will face Early in their final games at home Thursday, Nov. 7 starting with 7th grade at 5 p.m.
“We are hoping for a positive note to end the season for them,” said coach Hoerdeman. “They continue to work hard and improve. We are just hoping to put together a full game again for the 8th and for the 7th graders as well.”
