The Lingleville Lady Cardinals volleyball winning streak flew to seven Saturday, Oct. 5 as they set Moran in three. (Their opponents scored 4, 7 and 10 before Lingleville got to their 25s.)
A school record was set in the game as Lingleville registered 30 aces. Thirteen of these were secured by Emma Hudson, who head volleyball coach Brandon Haught dubbed the player of the game.
“Alexa Rosalez also did excellent providing 7 aces of her own,” he added. “It was a great way to head into our district games [this] week.”
This win followed a threeset victory over Three Way at home Oct. 3. The visitors scored 7, 1 and 7 before Lingleville scored their 25s.
“The girls played really sharp and kept our streak going,” said Haught. “We have been serving the ball really well and playing fantastic along the net.”
Player of the game was Sophie Hudson, who led the Lady Cards in kills (7) and aces (3).
Dylan Gibson also played a great game setting her season high for 3 sets at 20 assists.
Lingleville JV also beat Three Way Oct. 3 in two sets with Alexa Aviles performing as a standout.
The Jr. High Lady Cards conquered Zephyr Monday, Sept. 30 in a two-set victory. Haught said standouts were Piper Rives and Reesleigh Wilson. The team followed this with a 4th place finish at the Peaster Tournament.
The team beat Brock and Peaster before falling to Decatur and Weatherford Hall.
“They did a great job being the only 1A school there and had many teams and fans complementing them for their play,” said Haught. “[We were] going against teams with 12 on their roster. Our 7 girl squad was like the little engine that could!”
