The Lingleville Lady Cardinals volleyball team was looking for a W this week following tough competition at Zephyr and the Poolville tournament.

“We’re not going to shy away from our record and make any excuses,” said head volleyball coach Brandon Haught. “We would have liked to come away with some wins this weekend but we didn’t. I can tell you that these girls aren’t going to quit or feel sorry for themselves, because I saw them continue to battle every single game despite the adversity. These Lingleville kids are tough!”

The Lady Cards traveled to Zephyr Tuesday, Aug. 20 after water issues at the Lingleville campus prompted a change of venue. The home team took all three sets with Lingleville scoring 11, 14 and 20 to Zephyr’s 25s.

Madison Howle showed great fight with 11 kills and a block.

The varsity girls followed this with losses to Garner, Alvord Perrin Whitt and North Side in the Poolville tournament Thursday, Aug. 22 and to Strawn, Lipan and North Side Saturday, Aug. 24.

“I’m really proud of how Alexa Aviles and Kenleigh Jones stepped up and played in different positions on this day in order to continue the fight,” Haught said.

JV Lady Cards fared better, wrapping up Zephyr 2-1 and winning 2 of 3 games in Poolville Friday, Aug. 23.

Lingleville JV scored 23 to Zephyr’s 25 in the first set and claimed the next two sets with 25 over Zephyr’s 16 and 14 respectively. Marti Luttrell was player of the game with 8 Aces.

In the Tourney, The JV Lady Cards beta Jacksboro 2-0 and Bowie 2-0 before falling to Garner in three sets. “Denise Toledo and Jazmin Martinez had an excellent day in the tournament, coming away with countless digs,” said Haught.
