Dublin varsity split wins and the Green JV boys claimed a commanding win in the summer league basketball tournaments held Monday, June 17 at Dublin Secondary.
Dublin head boys basketball coach Wes Grisham reported that although the Lions got edged out by Hamilton 53-42, the home team kept up with competition which had a lot of height on their side.
Dublin boys fared better in a 60-47 win over Huckabay. Grisham reported the team “came out shooting and passing the ball” and benefited from getting defensive stops right when they were needed.
Grisham also commended the JV green team for ‘playing with confidence from the beginning’ as they took down the Comanche JV black squad 43-26.
“They played with a lot of heart,” Grisham added.
In the June 24 tournament, JV Green will play Hamilton at 3 p.m. and Brownwood at 7:30 p.m.; JV black will play Comanche at 4 p.m. and Huckabay at 5:40 p.m.; and varsity will play Goldthwaite at 6:30 p.m. and Eastland at 8:10 p.m.
