Selden Homecoming canceled

The Selden Homecoming, which is normally on the last Sunday in June at the Selden Community Center, will not be held, again, this year (2021) due to the coronavirus. —submitted

Lions Club to host Irish Stampede

Dublin Lions Club will once again have their annual Irish Stampede the second weekend in June in honor of local diary farmers since June is diary month. The run - a 10-5-2K race, wil be on a certified course with the 10 and 5K races to start at 7:30 a.m.

Proctor VFD hosting Fish Fry

Proctor VFD is having its 2021 annual Fish Fry Fundraiser June 5th starting at 5:30 p.m. at the Proctor Community Center in Proctor Tx. This year, they are selling chances for a John Deere Z345M Zero Turn Mower with a trailer to haul it on and a Bergara B-14 HMR Wilderness Rifle.

Gustine Homecoming to feature 42, Washer tournaments

If you are a washer player there is great news for you! Saturday, May 29th, Gustine is having its annual homecoming celebration and the washer tournament begins at 10 a.m. at the Gunter’s dryer shed. Registration is at 9:30. Fee is $10 per team.

100 years ago May 27, 1921 June 1 was Bundle Day in Dublin. Bundle Day was when residents gathered up their old clothes to give to “people of the Near East”. The clothes would be bundled up and placed on the front porch where citizens involved would come and pick up the bundles to donate.

The Hico News Review Valedictorian and Salutatorian for Hico’s class of 2021 were pictured on the front page with information about their upcoming graduation. Erin Ballard was named valedictorian and Lisa Wright was named salutatorian. Baccalaureate ceremonies will be on Sunday, June 6 at 7 p.m.
