A&M spotlights grass-fed beef

The Texas A&M AgriLife Extension Service will host a conference for producers of grass-fed beef on June 24-25 at the Texas A&M Rosenthal Meat Center, 730 Olson Blvd., College Station. This is the eighth conference focusing on the production of cattle and the beef marketed directly to consumers.

“I’ve always just wanted to be with my wife, make a living, make friends and serve people,” says Jacky Boatright. And after six years in the Army and a decades-long career with local grocery stores, that’s exactly what he’s done. Boatright graduated from Dublin High School in May of 1950.

LHS grad makes honor roll

Lingleville High School graduate Rebekah Proffit was named to the President’s Honor Roll by Midwestern State University for the Spring 2021 semester. Midwestern State University recognized 1,089 honor students for the Spring 2021 semester.

Cora Cemetery will be receiving a Texas Historical Marker in a special dedication ceremony on June 5 at 10 a.m. Cora cemetery is one of the oldest cemeteries in Comanche County. The community was first called “Troy” and was established on the military road from Fort Gates to Fort Phantom Hill.

Bosque River President Jane Klein of Stephenville, Registrar Carol Dismukes of Bluff Dale and member Dr. Jana Burch of Bynum recently returned from the 130th Convention of the Daughters of the Republic of Texas which was held in San Antonio. Over 400 members of the organization attended.

Elementary students at Lingleville school celebrated the end of school by picking books to take home and read this summer. Thanks to HEB, World Literacy Foundation, Scholastic Book Clubs and First Books and other individual donors Elaine Carpenter was able to collect 1000 books to give the students.

EC3 hosting camps

Erath County’s Star Council, a non-profit organization working towards drug-free communities, is hosting a trio of free summer camps for children. They include: Bosque Safari Camp Dates: June 15th and June 16th Time: 8 a.m. to 5 p.m.
