Crop Report

Texas A&M Agrilife Extension Service compiled the following report for the CENTRAL District: Soil conditions were saturated from repeated rains. Wheat harvest should be underway but was severely delayed by rain. Wheat plants were starting to lodge in fields.

The consistent rainfall

The consistent rainfall started in May has continued through the month of June with Proctor Lake (above) sitting at 1172.96 feet (well above its normal 1162 foot conservation level) with waters significantly closer to bridges.

Where Are They Now?

Don Kirklen grew up on a farm that had been in his family since the 1880s. Now, after a long career that took him to Texas, Iowa and North Dakota, he’s back on the farm with his family and enjoying life.

Recent rains

Selden Homecoming canceled The Selden Homecoming, which is normally on the last Sunday in June at the Selden Community Center, will not be held, again, this year (2021) due to the coronavirus.

50 years ago June 10, 1971 Dr. Charles Crabtree announced the opening of his new office building. The new location was at 116 North Grafton and the office was closed Monday morning and Saturday afternoon.
