The Dublin High School Sound of Dublin Marching Band will travel to Mineral Wells Saturday, Oct. 15 to compete in UIL contest. At 9 a.m. the band will run through its performance at the Dublin Stadium. At 9:30 a.m. they will load the trailer and have a uniform check before they hit the road.

Dublin lost a native daughter and community pillar Saturday with the passing of retired judge Latrelle Cain. Cain served the Dublin community as a municipal court judge for 25 years and also served for several years as Justice of the Peace for Precinct 2.

The community is invited to the opening of Blackjack Office Center as a Dublin cornerstone building is given a new lease on life. The building will be open for all to come and see from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m. on Tuesday, Oct. 18. Hors d’oeuvres and beverages will be served.

The Big Top arrived in Dublin Tuesday, Oct. 11 in time for a one-day performance of a circus by Culpepper and Merriweather, sponsored by the Dublin Chamber of Commerce. Numerous acts were featured by circus performers.

Recent calls result in arrests

Dublin Police officers have been busy over the past week with several calls that resulted in arrests. On Sept. 28, at approximately 9:01 p.m. officers were dispatched to the Golden Chick in Dublin in reference to a subject making death threats.

Season offers spook-tacular events

Spooky season is upon us as Halloween approaches, and there are many fun events in the area. In Dublin, there will be several options for Halloween fun including the Safe Trick or Treating hosted by the Chamber of Commerce and a Trunk or Treat hosted by the Stephenville Area Elks Lodge 2834.

Scarecrow contest now underway Dublin Public Library is inviting the community to join in the fall spirit with a Build Your Own Scarecrow contest benefitting the local library. The cost is $50 for businesses and $25 for residents to enter. Deadline to register has been extended until Oct.
