Cora Cemetery receiving marker

Cora Cemetery will be receiving a Texas Historical Marker in a special dedication ceremony on June 5 at 10 a.m. Cora cemetery is one of the oldest cemeteries in Comanche County. The community was first called “Troy” and was established on the military road from Fort Gates to Fort Phantom Hill.

Elementary students at Lingleville school celebrated the end of school by picking books to take home and read this summer. Thanks to HEB, World Literacy Foundation, Scholastic Book Clubs and First Books and other individual donors Elaine Carpenter was able to collect 1000 books to give the students.

EC3 hosting camps

Erath County’s Star Council, a non-profit organization working towards drug-free communities, is hosting a trio of free summer camps for children. They include: Bosque Safari Camp Dates: June 15th and June 16th Time: 8 a.m. to 5 p.m.

Selden Homecoming canceled The Selden Homecoming, which is normally on the last Sunday in June at the Selden Community Center, will not be held, again, this year (2021) due to the coronavirus.

75 years ago June 7, 1946 Several movies were playing at the Majestic Theatre. Friday was “Two Sisters From Boston”. Saturday’s Matinee and night show were “Little Giant”. Sunday and Monday was “Tomorrow is Forever”. Tuesday was a double feature of “One Way to Love” and “West of the Alamo”.

De Leon Free Press Friday, May 28th was De Leon High School’s graduation ceremony. Valedictorian and Salutatorian were named. Ashtyn Leigh Welch was named Valedictorian and graduated with a 4.030 GPA and Ethan James Dyson was named Salutatorian with a 3.982 GPA.

Dublin ISD offers free meals
