Kingdom Movement and a host of generous sponsors hosted 200 people and gave away 100 free backpacks at a backto-school Cool in the Pool event at Dublin City Park Sunday. The event included free meals with burgers and hotdogs, free ice cream, bounce houses and free entry into the pool.

Comanche Chief The Police Department hosted a pancake breakfast on Friday August 6 at the Community Center. Breakfast included two pancakes, meat and a drink and cost $10. All proceeds went to support the Special Olympics of Texas.

HowdyFest tournament set Saturday

Howdy Enterprise is staging another day of exciting golf and activities to benefit local charities as they host the second annual Howdy Fest on Aug. 14 at PAR Country Club. In addition to the golf tournament, activities include a cook off, top golf and live music.

COVID Update

The Texas Department of State Health Services reported that Erath County had an estimated 165 active cases of COVID-19 when it released its weekly update Monday. (This was up from an estimated 81 active cases the Monday before.

Grand Jury indicts 14

The Erath County Grand Jury returned 14 indictments on Aug. 4.

July 26 A report was made for a male individual who left a cooler by the trash can at Blackjacks and was asking one of the employees if she would like to go on a date and was being bothersome. The call was made from the 100 block of Blackjack. A report was made for a reckless driver on Blackjack.
