Retired U.S. Air Force Col. Kenny Weldon has been named dean of Tarleton State University’s new Leadership and Military College, effective immediately, and will continue his role as Commandant of the Texan Corps of Cadets.

Active COVID-19 cases drop by 30

Erath County officials reported 18 new cases of COVID-19 in the report from Monday night (Sept. 14). Nine of these new positive cases were from within the city limits of Stephenville, six were residents of Dublin and three were rural residents of the county.

August 31 A report was made about a truck hitting a parked car and driving away on Post Oak. September 1 Caller reported that he believed his girlfriend put sugar in his gas tank and his truck was parked at the library. Caller drove to Stephenville to make a report and SPD took photos.

September 4 At 1:22 p.m. a call was received about a burglary and unlawful use of a motor vehicle at the County Barn on North Norton. At 10:35 p.m. someone hid an ATV-type vehicle on property on FM 1188. September 5 At 1:09 a.m. a vehicle drove off CR 434 and landed in a creek, driver safe.

Council adopts budget, tax rate

The Dublin City Council approved the 2020-2021 budget and tax rate and officially appointed interim EMS director John Tadlock to the position during a busy but quick regular meeting Monday night.

Jones joins Dublin Police

Daniel Jones may be one of the newest officers on the Dublin PD, but he is no stranger to the department. The 23-year-old Abilene native was an intern for Dublin PD and served as a night-time dispatcher while he was attending Tarleton.

Ballots open for Dist. 30

As of Tuesday at 1 p.m., a total of 295 Erath votes had been cast in the special election for Texas Senate District 30 (170 in person and 125 absentee ballots). Early voting is being held at the Erath County Courthouse from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. today and tomorrow and from Sept. 21 to Sept. 25.
