Local man helps in ride to freedom

Every family has stories that get passed down, circulated between siblings and children as noteworthy passages in a family tree. Few are as lively as that of Stephenville resident Bethel Baker, but few family stories center on helping a wrongfully accused man escape a Mexican prison.

Free meals available to DISD

All students of Dublin ISD are now eligible to receive a free breakfast and lunch in a move that was made effective Sept. 15.

Farm Bureau meeting changed for safety

Due to current health concerns, the Erath County Farm Bureau announced that they will not be hosting their usual annual meeting and dinner this year. The ECFB will conduct a short business only meeting for the election of directors and delegates on Tuesday, Sept.

First United Methodist Church News

The church’s Community Table and Food Pantry recently received a couple sizable donations into these community programs. One was from the Stephenville Area Elks Lodge for $3500. The second was from the West District UMC for $1000. A big Thank You to both groups for your generous donations!

SHERIFF’S REPORT

September 12 At 8:47 p.m. a two-vehicle accident at the corner of FM 219 North and Clinton Street needed two wreckers, no injuries. At 11:46 p.m. a large party in a pasture on FM 847 quickly dispersed before a deputy’s arrival to stop people from breaking bottles in the roadway.

September 7 Dublin PD was advised of a reckless driver on Highway 377 between Dublin and Proctor that was failing to maintain their lane and speed. A caller advised of a suspicious vehicle at the Dollar General.
