There was a report of a male individual in the 800 block of Courtney that came up to the reporting person and asked for a charger and a lighter, then pulled out a meth pipe and began smoking it. The suspect was arrested for possession of a controlled substance in penalty group 1, under 1 gram.

AgriLife Extension district reporters compiled the following summary for the Central Texas district: Dry conditions continued. Soil moisture levels were very short. Corn harvest was nearing completion with reduced yields reported. Grain sorghum was a failure.

Fishing Report

BROWNWOOD SLOW. Water slightly stained; 86-88 degrees; 5.84 feet low. In the Texas heat, fishing is tough with fish clinging under docks, or in open water following bait balls. Bass are slow to three pounds scattered all over the lake biting on shaky heads and crankbaits.
