As we started preparing this edition of the Dublin Citizen, I faced two unique choices. The first came when choosing the verses to be included on the Church Page (found on A6). The page is sponsored by local businesses and churches and features select verses from the Bible as its centerpiece.

Recently I have read through some of the sporadic journaling I had done in this wild, crazy year of 2020. Looking back, I wish I had been more faithful and recorded more often. Interesting some of the emotions, circumstances, details that at the time were unbelievable and now seem commonplace.

Christmas arrives tomorrow, bringing a time to remember the reason for the season and show our appreciation for the ones we love. It also brings a reprieve to the gift buying season that started with Black Friday and possibly earlier.

Fishing report

BROWNWOOD Water slightly stained; 57 degrees; 2.69 low. Largemouth bass are fair with crankbaits, poppers, and spinners in 5-14’ near creeks, rocky shorelines, and fallen timber. Crappie are good on minnows in brush piles and timber near a creek channel.

Bloat on Small Grains Because of the La Nina weather pattern it has been a tough year for small grains, but there are still a lot of good grain fields in the county. I see a lot of cattle already grazing and other fields that are about ready to have cattle turned in on them.

Dublin High School graduates Blaize Leatherwood and Camry Porter were among several locals named when Angelo State University in San Angelo, Texas announced the students achieving the Dean’s List designation for the 2020 fall semester.
