The Dublin Lady Lions were looking for revenge as the returned home this week following battles with Early and Tolar.
“Early was a strong team and they challenged us from the beginning,” said head volleyball coach Hannah Smith. “The scores weren’t what we wanted, but our girls continue to compete and work through every point.”
“Right now our focus is on continuing to improve staying together and not allowing tough matches,” she added. “This group is still showing up putting in the effort and fighting to get better. We’ll take what we learned from this match and get back in the gym ready to work.”
In the three-set loss to Early, Dublin put up 9 points in each set. Regan Vanbebber amassed 5 digs, one kill, a block and an ace. Adriana Stewart scored 2 kills and a dig. Tylor Nail also had 2 kills. Kloe Whiteley snagged 3 blocks and a tip. Samantha Martinez and Ashton Castillo had 2 digs each and Addisen Zimmerman and Savannah Chacon each had a dig.
The Early match-up followed a Sept. 29 game against the Lady Rattlers in which Dublin scored 8, 13 and 19 in their sets before Tolar claimed them with 25s.
DHS Girls Athletic Director Brandon Haught announced Adriana Stewart was athlete of the week. “She is one of our teams captains for volleyball and had been very uplifting to her teammates lately,” said Haught. “She takes practice seriously and always gives her best. She has even been reinforcing pr reiterating things that coaches say to try and help others. We are so proud of her!”
