The Dublin Lions earned a ticket to the state playoffs during the qualifying tournament hosted by Dublin Friday at Cervetto Field.

“We just got better and better all day,” said Coach Greg Hardcastle of his team’s performance. He was also happy that younger players got more field experience and scoring was spread out among the players.

Dublin started pool play against Tioga and was down 13-0 at the half before catching up and taking over 26-22.

Dublin narrowly lost the second game to Eastland, when they failed to get a two-point conversion to tie it up.

The Lions followed this with a 20-13 win over Hamilton to qualify for semifinal play.

Dublin finished strong with a 25-6 victory over Rio Vista.

The Team will face its next tournament in Abilene on June 10 where they will face Hawley, Merkel and Miles, starting at 8:30 a.m.
