On the Right Foot
The Dublin community gets a chance to Meet the Lions tonight (Thursday) at 7 p.m. in the Dublin High School Gym. The annual event gives a spotlight to this year’s athletes and coaching staff.
This community introduction comes as the DHS coaching staff is getting their first chance to see them in action as practices started early Monday with the players taking to the Bob and Norma Cervetto Field before 6 a.m. The players and coaches took the field as they were cheered on by some dedicated fans who arrived before daybreak to watch the first day of practice.
Lions fans will get to see the 2023 players in action during an inter-squad scrimmage this Saturday, Aug. 5, starting at 8 a.m. on Cervetto Field. The Lady Lions volleyball team will have a scrimmage in the DHS gym at 9 a.m.
This will give the players some practice time before they take on the Hamilton Bulldogs in an Aug. 11 scrimmage at 6 p.m. Donations will be taken during the scrimmage for the Texas High School Coaches Education Foundation Benevolence Fund in “Our Day to Shine.”
Donations to the organization allow the Texas High School Coaches Association greater reach in helping student athletes with hardship cases.
