Harold Lane Crank, 83, passed away Tuesday, July 18, in Huntington Beach, CA, survived by his loving family.

Although Lane was a 1958 graduate of Lockney High School, he cherished his time at Dublin High. He began his education at WT where he continued his passion for playing football. He then served his country in the U.S. Navy where he met the love of his life, his wife, Satoe. He worked in the medical field as he believed life is precious and had the desire to help people, a theme throughout his life. He earned his undergraduate degree at The George Washington University, Washington DC and earned his Master’s Degree from US Naval Postgraduate School, Monterey.

In the Navy, he served as a hospital corpsman, physician’s assistant, pharmacist, professor, and more from 1959 to 1982 followed by a career at LAC-USC Medical Center until 2002, and then as a consultant at LAC Hospitals for another 10 years. Also in retirement he continued to help others by volunteering at LAC Harbor Hospital to implement a computer systemasnooneunderstood the hospital supply system as well as he did.

Lane enjoyed playing music throughout his life. Early on he learned to play the guitar, tuba, and trumpet and in retirement learned to play the piano. His creativity drove him to write songs and then played them for family, friends, and in public performances.

He was born in Dublin, Texas, on January 20, 1940, a son of the late Eugene V., and M. Leola (Patton) Crank. Although his life and career path led him from his home town, in his heart he never left Dublin and never left Texas.
