Dorothy “Dot” Gilbreath, 98, of Big Spring, passed away Monday, June 7, 2021. Funeral services will be 10:00 AM Friday, June 11, 2021, at the Nalley-Pickle & Welch Rosewood Chapel with Rev Bill Ivins officiating.

Graveside services will be 4 p.m. Friday at the Barbee Cemetery in Dublin, Texas with Rev. Dean Bradley officiating

Dot was born August 3, 1922 in Dublin, Texas to Thomas Edison Cook and Lina Pearl Lloyd Cook. She married Norris Bryan Gilbreath December 19, 1946 in Dublin and he preceded her in death in April 1987.

Dot was a member of First United Methodist Church in Big Spring and was devoted to her Sunday school class.

She was a Pink Lady volunteer at Scenic Mountain Medical Center with 42,000 volunteer hours and had also volunteered at the Big Spring State Hospital resale shop, The Chalet.

Dot was an avid quilter, gardener and loved spending time with her family and church friends.

She was affectionately known as “Mama Dot” to her grandchildren.

Survivors include her daughter, Sue Bagwell and husband, Chuck; three grandsons, Michael Bagwell and wife, Kathy, Matthew Bagwell and wife Lorena, and Jonathan Bagwell and wife, Taylor; six great-grandchildren, Mason Bagwell, Madry Bagwell, Nicholas Bacigalupo, Elliot Bagwell, Blair Bagwell and Jack Bagwell; and one sister, Winnie Mortimer.

Dot was also preceded in death by her parents, three brothers, and four sisters.

The family suggests memorials to the Barbee Cemetery Association, 116 N. Camden St., Dublin, Texas 76446.

Arrangements are under the direction of Nalley-Pickle & Welch Funeral Home and Crematory.
