Services for Bettie Jo Evans, 96, homemaker, will be held at 1:30 pm, Saturday, Jan. 20, 2024, at the Lacy Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Werth Mayes officiating.
Burial will be at Elliott Cemetery in Hearne, Texas, at 12:30 p.m., Monday, Jan. 22, 2024.
Bettie was born in Ballinger, Texas, on April 7, 1927, to Ernest and Emily (Hughes) Hampton. She married Gayl Edwards on April 5, 1943, in Galena Park, Texas, and he preceded her in death on April 22, 1945. She married Cleo Mayfield on April 27, 1947, in Callahan County, Texas, and he preceded her in death on Feb. 19, 1963. She married James Robert Evans, Jr., on Aug. 5, 1967, in Dublin, Texas, and he preceded her in death on Nov. 20, 1992.
She was a member of the Full Gospel Church and was an extraordinary seamstress.
Survivors include her son, Stanley M. Mayfield and wife, Beckey, of Fort Worth, Texas; son, Tony Evans and wife, Sharon, of Granbury, Texas; Alva Kennedy of Comanche, Texas; grandson, Derrick Mayfield of Austin, Texas; and greatgrandchildren, Caroline Mayfield and David Mayfield. She was preceded in death by her three husbands, one son, Bobby Richard Edwards, granddaughter, Cristina Denise Mayfield, and eleven brothers and sisters.
