Born to James (Jimmie) E. and Bessie Hammond Armstrong in Dublin, Texas, Elizabeth “Ann” Armstrong (Tatum) Thorne passed to her heavenly home with her Lord and Savior, Jesus, Aug. 12, 2023, at home with beloved family at her side.

Ann left Dublin at age 17, attended X-ray school and became an X-ray technician. She continued her long career as a Nuclear Medicine technician until retirement.

She married Audry Jean Tatum, and they had two children, Lisa and Jimmy. This marriage ended in divorce. Ann married Richard Thorne, and added three additional children to the family, Torey, Chris and Paul.

Upon retirement, Ann moved home to Dublin with Richard, and they settled in their home in Comanche, County. For 10 years after retirement, Ann and Richard enjoyed summers in the Sacramento Mountains near Cloudcroft, New Mexico. There they made many friends and grew to love riding ATV’s through the mountains and all of the beautiful wildlife of the area, especially the hummingbirds.

Ann was talented in all media of art and crafts. She painted in oils, crocheted and made jewelry to name a few. She loved to cook and host family and friends. Spending time with her kids, grandkids and great grandkids were some of her favorite times.

Ann is preceded in death by her parents, Jimmie and Bessie Armstrong.

She is survived by her husband of 44 years, Richard; her children, Lisa Tatum Walker (John), James A Tatum, Torey Thorne Winkler (Max), R. Christopher Thorne (Tonja) and Paul V. Thorne (Maria); grandchildren: Stephanie Sellers (Brandon), Hannah Winkler, Lauren Thorne, Lesley Poteet (Steven) and Henry Thorne; and eight great grandchildren.

A Celebration of Life will be held at a later date to celebrate her life with family and friends.
