Holiday event planning is underway, and there are many adventures in store for the Dublin community.
The second annual Grinchmas Healthy Pet Holiday Event is set from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 3 at Greens Creek Veterinary Clinic.
They will be collecting funds, pet food and products for Inside Voice, a pet nonprofit.
Participants can take pictures with the Grinch, make new friends at Max’s Petting Zoo, enjoy holiday foods, do Christmas shopping at the Country Flower Plant Farm vendor table, get pets up to date at a free rabies clinic or adopt a new pet.
The Dublin Secondary School will be hosting a craft fair from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 3.
The event is a fundraiser for the Dublin Secondary School.
There will also be a free toy giveaway for those in need from 9 a.m. to noon Wednesday, Dec. 7 at First Baptist Church of Dublin.
The Dublin Chamber of Commerce is hard at work bringing a ‘December to Remember’ to Dublin.
Events will be held from 2 p.m. to 9 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 10 including a free, downtown lighted parade.
The day’s activities include pictures with Santa from 2-5:30 p.m., a lighted parade at 6 p.m. and a Christmas movie under the stars at 7:30 p.m. the Dublin Public Library.
“Our Dublin Chamber of Commerce created a committee to plan and organize our Christmas festivities in Dublin. So much heart, inspiration and joy has been going into every detail of the preparation from choosing the name to choosing the right movie,” Chamber President Blanca Martineau said. “We all love Dublin and we are super excited and happy for all our local businesses to have their doors wide open for all those who will attend the event. We are also all small business owners to come downtown and share their goods, talents and the spirit of Christmas with us.”
There will be vendors in the downtown area providing food for the event, Christmas shopping and many downtown stores will be open for holiday shopping.
The Dublin Public Library is also planning to serve up holiday treats downtown as a fundraiser.
Those interested in becoming a vendor can apply through the chamber. Vendor fees are $25 for chamber members and $30 for non-chamber members.
A house decorating contest is also underway with voting taking place Dec. 16 through Christmas Day. Each house entered is $25 and cash prizes will be given to the 1st, 2nd and 3rd place winners. Those wanting to enter the contest can contact the chamber. Deadline to enter and pay is Dec. 2.
Dublin Market Days will also take place from 2-5 p.m. Dec. 10 at Wright Park offering holiday shoppers a chance to get handmade items and homemade treats as Christmas gifts.
There will also be a book signing at 1 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 10 at the newly opened Blackjack Office Center in downtown Dublin.
Laura Conner Kestner is scheduled to sign her books and offer copies for purchasing.
Kestner is the author of the Moccasin Rock Series and recently completed the series with A Texas Secret. The previous three books will also be available for readers who have not already completed those.
At 9 a.m. Tuesday, Dec. 13 Dublin Elementary School Pre-K students will be singing Christmas Carols for their parents and community members at the Corner Lot in downtown Dublin.
Everyone is invited to attend, organizers said.
There will also be a Living Nativity Scene presented by First Baptist Church at 6 p.m. Wednesday, Dec. 21 through Friday, Dec. 23 at the Corner Lot.
