Dublin High School graduated 82 seniors during the 2022 commencement exercises on the Bob and Norma Cervetto Field Friday night.

More than $233,000 in scholarships were presented to graduates during the academic awards ceremony on May 17 in which other distinctions were presented.

Among these honors were recognition of seniors who had accrued more than 40 hours of community service hours. It was reported in last week’s Dublin ISD School Board meeting that the senior class had amassed a combined total of 2,367 community service hours with salutatorian Veronica Rodriguez contributing more than 400 hours across her high school career. Also earning the community service stoles were: Julisa Banda, Carmen (Suzy) Cortez, Maria Barreras, Angie Flores, Emilee Beam, Benjamin Flores, Jocelin Chacon, Makaylie Garcia, Paizlee Haby, Mariah Jimenez, Kylie Olvera, Yosselyn Sanchez, Colton Moore, Roger Adair, Sehrsha Glover, Zakk Sharp, Daniela Jimenez, Griffyn Hernandez, Stefanie Padron, Gabrielle Richardson, Daisy Almazan, Stephany Fabela, Jacob Roy, Lizeth Garcia, Anahi Gaspar, Laura Garcia-Andrade and Juan Garcia.

Six DHS grads also earned enough hours to graduate with associate’s degrees from Ranger College. They were: Jasmine Sanchez, Makayla Smith, Veronica Rodriguez, Colton Moore, Roger Adair and Sehrsha Glover.

Salutatorian Veronica Rodriguez was presented with more than $80,000 in scholarships including: United Way ($500), Scottish Rite ($1,500), Howard Payne University ($64,000), Rose Rafferty and Flora Foust Educational Fund ($12,000), University of Texas at Arlington ($16,000), Tarleton Presidential Scholarship ($3,000), DAughters of the American Revolution ($300), Zonta Club ($1,000), and Mickey Belew Memorial Foundation ($1,000).

Angie Flores received $60,000 through the Central Texas Scholarship for over 4 years at Howard Payne University.

Valedictorian Juan Garcia received the following: George Weidebusch Chemistry ($1,000), Spirit of Tarleton ($2,000), Rose Rafferty and Flora Foust Educational Fund ($16,000), Honors Degree Program ($1,000), Dean’s Academic Scholarship ($1,000) and Mickey Belew Memorial Foundation ($1,000).

Rianna Turner was presented with the The Tanton Family Scholarship ($5,000).

Wyatt Watson received: Danny Prater Memorial FFA Scholarship ($1,250), Bart and Ruby Greenway Memorial Scholarship ($1,000) and Mike McFarland Memorial Golf Scholarship ($750).

Colton Moore was presented with: Mickey Belew Memorial Foundation ($1,000), American Legion Post 219 Scholarship ($500), Danny Prater Memorial FFA Scholarship ($1,250) and Dublin Lions Club ($500).

Kylie Olvera was presented: Higginbotham Brothers ($1,000), Mickey Belew Memorial Foundation ($1,000) and American Legion Post 219 ($500).

Mariah Jimenez received: LaNell Whitehead Memorial FFA Scholarship ($750) and Colton Tatsch Memorial ($1,000).

Mike McFarland Memorial Golf scholarships were also awarded to: Ty Roberts ($1,250), Payton Williams ($1,000) and Michael Stanley ($500).

Dublin Lions Club scholarships were also awarded to Yosselyn Sanchez and Paizlee Haby ($1,000 each).

Celeste Alvarez also got $1,000 from the Bart and Ruby Greenway Memorial Foundation.
