Empty Nesters (in much less time than usual)

Have you driven by the Dublin Citizen office early on a weekday and seen either Cindy or myself sprinkling seed in the parking lot?Rest assured, it’s not from insanity or a desire to grow hardier plants under the asphalt.

Proud to be a Dubliner

Ever since moving to Dublin I’ve enjoyed its small town spirit. To me, that spirit is never more on display than when I’m attending community events, especially those surrounding the library. The Back-to-School fair is one of my favorites. There is no infighting.

To The Letter

When I was about 10, I wrote a letter to my aunt, who lived in Oklahoma. I’d never written a letter to anyone before. For a kid in Ashdown, Arkansas, Oklahoma might as well have been China.I just knew that I didn’t see her or my uncle much, and I told my grandmother I missed them.

Have You No Couth?

Have You No Couth?

Have You No Couth?

As a kid, I was fairly certain I’d never get any couth. I wasn’t sure what couth was, but it seemed to be important to my grandparents. If you made a social error, you’d be asked, “Ain’t you got any couth?”If you grew up between the 1940s and 1970s, it was a different world than today.

Where are they now? Saul Montoya

When Dublin graduate Saul Montoya was younger, his father taught him how to be a problemsolver. “Growing up and being with my dad, he would show me how to fix things, and I became fascinated with how things work,” Montoya said. “When there was an issue, I always wanted to be a part of the solution.

Faith: If You Saw Jesus, How Would You Recognize Him?

“If I saw Jesus, I’d probably know because he’d be glowing or floating or something,” says Caleb, 9. “Also, I think he’d have a name tag that says ‘Messiah.’” If only it were that simple. On the first Easter morning, Mary Magdalene stood outside Jesus’ empty tomb, crying.

Faith: Types of Faith

By their proper name we call them “sacraments.” They are religious rites that are supposed to be a reminder of what Jesus Christ has done for us.
