Erath loses local hero

The Erath County community is mourning the loss of a devoted officer and neighbor after Stephenville PD patrol sergeant Steven Watts, 53, died Monday at Baylor Medical Center in Dallas surrounded by family and fellow officers.

Erath County officials reported one new case of COVID-19 in the report from Thursday, April 8 that was released the next morning. The new case was from within the city limits of Stephenville. Total deaths since March 2020 were reported at 68 by the Department of State Health Services.

BROWNWOOD Water stained; 64 degrees; 3.37 low. Largemouth bass are excellent with chatter baits, bladed spinners, crankbaits, and skirted jigs in coves, shorelines, and timber in 2-10’. Crappie are good on minnows in brush piles, near bridge pilings, and in the creeks.
