Jeff Slaton of Diamond Cross Rodeo reported the Sept. 11 rodeo set for the Dublin City Park Arena promises to offer some big fun. Diamond Cross is hosting a Hamilton event this weekend with 471 registered contestants, and Slaton expects to see a high level of support here as well.

Dublin drops tax rate

The Dublin City Council officially adopted a decreased tax rate during a special meeting Monday night. The new approved rate was set at $.9001 per $100 valuation, down from the 2020 rate of $.9638.

Citizen closed Monday

The Dublin Citizen will be closed on Monday in observance of Labor Day. All deadlines for advertising and content submission will be Friday at 5 p.m. due to the holiday. —Citizen staff report

9/11 Museum events cancelled

The National Health and Public Safety History Museum announced its cancellation of the Sept. 11 memorial service and stair climb this week, although the museum with its 9/11 chapel featuring a piece of the World Trade Center will be open on Sept.11 for everyone to come and observe.

Erath County officials reported 306 active cases of COVID-19 in the county report Thursday night and 3,953 cases reported since the starts of the pandemic. Hospitalizations were reported at 21 Thursday night and deaths rose to 73 since the beginning of the pandemic last year.
