Where Are They Now?

Colby Stokes works in the chemical industry, testing chemicals and plastics to make sure they are safe for applications and consumers. He loves his job — but if you’d asked him in high school, he would have had no idea the job even existed. Stokes graduated from Dublin High School in 2006.

Lions united in solidarity as well as the community in the Dublin stands Friday night sporting red in honor of the late Eddie Hernandez, who tragically died in a vehicle collision last year. Red was his favorite color.

Office center boosts business downtown

The community celebrated the opening of Blackjack Office Center as a Dublin cornerstone building was given a new lease on life. “This was built in 1909 and until us, it only had two owners,” said Vision Development Group’s Karen Wright.

DFTS brings home $155K

James and Tracie Thurman performed at Dancing For The Stars, a fundraiser for Big Brothers, Big Sisters of Erath County. They were named as the winners. The annual event held Thursday, Nov. 3 showcased the talent of six couples from Erath.

Kingdom Kids gets director

The former First Christian Church next to First Baptist Church was torn down in December to allow an expanded playground for Kingdom Kids to occur. Kaylee Sykora took over as director for Kingdom Kids in October

Looks like rain, dear

Santa and his elf waved to crowds downtown through torrential rain at the Dublin Chamber of Commerce annual parade of lights Saturday, Dec. 10. The area experienced heavy rainfall in December with storms followed by severe weather and tornado warnings in other parts of the county Tuesday, Dec. 13.

Citizen of the Year named

Meghan Hokanson looked on while Janice Chandler presented the Citizen of the Year award to her on behalf of the Dublin Chamber of Commerce. Meghan received the award due to her help in the community through Titan Fitness and for her work on the Shamrock Shuffl e.

Derailed near Bluff Dale

Ten cars were overturned as part of a train derailment that occurred Saturday, Oct. 22 near Bluff Dale. The Fort Worth Western Railroad train was carrying meal headed to Dublin. No one was injured in the accident

Rylan, Riders and Respec

Spider-man from Denton sprays an eager kid with silly string at the inaugural Rylan Strong Network Car and Bike show in Dublin Saturday, Aug. 27. The network founded in honor of 6-year-old Rylan Pruitt helps fund kids and families battling childhood cancer.
