Lady Cards vie against Zephyr, tourney foes

The Lingleville Lady Cardinals volleyball team was looking for a W this week following tough competition at Zephyr and the Poolville tournament.“We’re not going to shy away from our record and make any excuses,” said head volleyball coach Brandon Haught.

Waving his hat high in the air atop his rearing steed, the larger-than-life embodiment of the Texan Rider debuted Aug. 24 to a crowd of eager fans and distinguished guests gathered at Tarleton State University’s Memorial Stadium for the football home opener.

Lingleville JV and Varsity Lady Cardinals faced a week of battle on the volleyball court Aug. 12-17 with the JV girls claiming top honors at the Strawn tournament Aug. 16.

The Dublin Lady Lions took the top spot in the B pool while JV Lady Lions claimed silver during the Strawn Tournament Aug. 15-17.The varsity girls earned their distinction after going 2-1 in bracket play Saturday.

All Dublin students will be invited onto Cervetto Field following the scrimmages Thursday, Aug. 22 as FCA Leadership Night will follow the JV and Varsity play against the Clyde Bulldogs.JV will scrimmage at 6 p.m. followed by varsity at around 7:15 p.m., ending with two live quarters.
