Sales tax drops in December

Dublin sales tax collections were down in December 2023 at 7.5% lower compared to December 2022, according to the state sales tax report released by Texas Comptroller Glenn Hegar. For the month of December 2023, Dublin received $60,315.08, compared to $65,246.59 in December 2022.

Feb. 5 A reporting person came into the station to report the neighbor’s dog was severely malnourished. Call was referred to animal control. There was a report of a reckless driver that tried to cut off the reporting person and went onto the sidewalk in Deleon.

The Dublin Garden Club held their regular monthly meeting at 3 p.m. Feb, 14, at the Trinity Anglican Church Fellowship Hall. Lonnie Jenschke, Erath County Extension Agent, was the guest speaker. Mr. Jenschke spoke about good practices for successful composting.

Dublin High School students were presented with medals and scholarships Tuesday, Feb. 20 during the Dublin Rotary Club meeting at the Station as they participated in an essay contest based around Rotary Club’s four-way test. Madison Turley (left to right), claimed first place, Ariana Solano second and Vanessa Pantoja third. For placing first, Turley advances to Regional contest in Weatherford in April.

The annual Dublin Eggstravaganza planning is underway and the committee is seeking donations of candy, filled eggs and monetary donations. This year’s event will be sponsored by Dublin Dairy Queen, The Dublin Citizen and the Stephenville Area Elk’s Lodge. The event is set for 9-11 a.m.

Work is steadily progressing at the planned Dollar General Market location near The Dublin Citizen and Sonic on the north side of town as the frame went up in recent weeks and siding was installed over the weekend and into the beginning of the week.
