Erath County Master Gardeners Spring Plant Sale Saturday The Erath County Master Gardeners will be hosting the 2024 Spring Plant Sale Saturday, April 27 from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. at a NEW LOCATION at AgriLife Center, 1229 N. Hwy. 281 in Stephenville.

Helping the community

The Stephenville Area Elks Lodge No. 2834 donated a check for $1,206.94 left over from gratitude grant money to CASA of the Cross Timbers area. “CASA is a wonderful organization and we were proud to donate to help childen of the area,” Elk’s members said.

County purchases land for new 911 tower

The county has agreed to purchase an acre of land for a new 911 tower being built by North Central Texas Emergency Communications District.Erath County Judge Brandon Huckabee explained that the tower was to aid with the new digital radio system the county is moving towards for first responders.

Museum Matters

The Jake Hamon Railroad had always run steam locomotives on the line all the way back to the first passenger train that arrived in Dublin in 1920. The big change to diesel motive power happened in September of 1953 when the shiny and new diesel pulled into the Dublin station.

Advocates urge to Stop the Silence

A variety of individuals, community groups and advocates gathered for the Stop the Silence rally organized by Cross Timbers Family Services Tuesday, April 16. The rally is held each year in observance of National Crime Victims’ Rights Week, being held April 21-27.
