The Sound of Dublin were given a lively sendoff at The Corner Lot Saturday Oct. 26 as they headed to Denton for Area Contest with their ‘Heist Escape’ routine. The band came in 13th place, four places higher than last year and just shy of the 11th place finish they needed to advance.

Apartment fire kills one

An elderly male died Wednesday, Oct. 23 as the result of an apartment fire on West Mesquite in Dublin.According to information released by the Dublin Police Department, at approximately 3:47 p.m. a 911 call occurred regarding a fire at the apartment complex.

Star Gala shines in the ring

Hundreds of supporters gathered at Tarleton’s equine center arena for the 4th annual Morning Star Gala benefiting Dublin’s Morning Star Ranch Saturday, Oct. 26.MSR is a nonprofit faith-based riding center for children whose mission is to encourage and empower.

Spooktacular Halloween events today

Goblins, cats, bats and ghosts (along with assorted Marvel characters) will be out in full force this week for Halloween, Thursday, Oct. 31.There will be several events to choose from this week.The downtown Safe Trick or Treat will begin at 5 p.m. through 7 p.m.

Museum Matters

At the museum we have been gathering information about the Harbin Community. We hope to have a historical marker put in Harbin just outside of Dublin, sometime in the future.The Harbin Methodist Church was an important part of that community.

Garden Club learns about H2O

The Dublin Garden Club held its Oct. 9 meeting in the home of Denise Weems.Guest speaker was Texas Master Naturalist, Peggy Tolboom. Peggy spoke on water including sources, usage, habitat , environmental issues, sewage processes. Texas has 12 major river basins.
