Kingdom Threads clothes Dublin for winter

The yard across from First Baptist Church on Camden was abuzz with activity Saturday, Oct. 26 as Kingdom Threads held a winter clothing giveaway with thousands of donated items set out to fill a need.

Volunteer Cindy Standridge reported the event had been building year-round thanks to the generosity of this community and others, saying she’s had donations from Dublin, Comanche, Stephenville, San Antonio and more. The sorting and set-up was aided by KT’s dedicated volunteers as well as organizations like Stephenville youth groups who helped during the summer.

“I bless each and every one of y’all,” Standridge said as she stood next to her mother, Carolyn Whisenant, another volunteer wearing a matching shirt with Matthew 25:38, “I need clothes and you clothed me.”

The wealth of items had filled two storage buildings and community members seemed to have no trouble finding things they could use in the coming months.

The nonprofit clothing and more closet fills needs routinely as it is open Wednesdays from 9 a.m. to noon and sometimes draws as many as 60 on a typical week.

Standridge reported that no questions are asked from anyone coming in to look at items, saying everybody can use help sometimes. “You need it, you get it,” she said.

Kingdom Threads is located at 220 E. Live Oak and always accepts donations but the biggest needs are hangers and trash bags.
