Erath County Emergency Management Coordinator Cyndi Smith reported 241 new cases and 56 active cases of COVID-19 in Erath County in the most recent report Monday. “Our number continue to increase at an extremely high rate,” wrote Smith in the weekly report. “Total New Cases reported for the week 241, which 185 do not show in the Current Active Cases Statistics due to the new CDC guidelines. The report reflects the new CDC recommended 5 day recovery instead of the 14 day recovery. There were 241 new cases reported however with the new recommended 5 day recovery period there are only 56 as of 01/03/22.”
Smith encouraged the following:
■ Wash hands frequently with soap and water. Use hand sanitizer, if soap and water is not available.
■ If you are not feeling well or running a fever, stay away from others. Consider staying home from gatherings.
■ Cover your nose and mouth when you cough with a tissue and discard the tissue immediately. Use the bend of your arm if you do not have a tissue. Wash your hands.
■ If you are not vaccinated or need a booster, please do so or talk to your medical advisor/doctor for directions. Vaccinations and boosters are free and available at most pharmacies. An updated list of locations is attached.
