The Cardinals scrapped with Zephyr in a 42-36 home victory on Feb. 16 so they could keep sharp for the Feb. 20 Bi-District playoff against Walnuts Springs at Hico.

The Cards were down 34-29 as the fourth quarter began and leapt back with some energy. Between their fierce pace and timeouts that interrupted the flow before Zephyr could find its feet again, the home team pulled ahead and took the W.

“There have been some ups and downs learning a new system and new coach,” said head Lingleville boys basketball coach Garrett Stewart. “But I feel like we are starting to figure things out at the right time to make a push in the playoffs.”
Stewart reported the Cards averaged 20 assists and 60 points per game through the season with 30 of those averaging points coming from starting freshmen, Garrett Hurt and Hunter Pack.

“On the defensive side of the ball we average 16 deflections and 12 steals,” Stewart said. “I’m excited to see if we can continue this trajectory as we go through the playoffs.”
