The Lingleville Cardinals have started off the second half of district 4-0 by beating Walnut Springs 78-55 and Iredell 53-49.
“The boys battled through a lot of adversity this week to pull off a couple of big must wins in order for us to make the playoffs this year,” said head boys basketball coach Garrett Stewart. “I could not be more proud of how they have flipped the switch this second half. We went from averaging about 35 points per game up until 2 weeks ago, to averaging 65 over the past 4 games.”
“It took longer than I would have liked for us to start clicking but I’m glad it happened when it did,” he added.
Stewart, school staff and fans were also proud to watch as junior Garrett Hurt passed 1,000 career points during the Tuesday, Feb. 3 game against Walnut Springs.
“Your hard work, dedication, and passion for the game have truly paid off,” said Lingleville ISD officials on social media. “This is a testament to the hours spent in the gym, commitment to your team, and determination to keep improving. We are proud of you and excited to see what milestone you will reach next!”
